New Senior Housing & Healthcare Association member Northern Horizon focuses, as its name suggests, on Northern Europe. The group was founded in a Copenhagen basement in 2001 and now has offices in the Nordic and Baltic regions, as well as in Germany.
The group’s chief executive, Milda Dargužaitė, spoke to Real Asset Insight about Northern Horizon’s journey, its plans for the future and shared views on the healthcare real estate market.

Northern Horizon, specialized healthcare asset manager, today announced that the firm has successfully completed the conversion of its third healthcare fund into an open-ended fund. With the launch of the evergreen fund, Northern Horizon Aged Care Social Infrastructure SCSp SICAV-RAIF, Northern Horizon increases its long-standing commitment to address the shortage of modern care homes in the Nordics.
Northern Horizon, specialized healthcare real estate investor, is pleased to announce the successful deployment of the investment capacity of EUR 648 million for its fourth Nordic healthcare fund, ACIV. As of March 2024, the fund owns 44 assets and has committed to 3 assets under construction, bringing the portfolio to 47 assets in total.
On 22 February 2024, the ongoing construction of the new care home and daycare facility in Kolding, Denmark was celebrated at an open event with speeches by the mayor and the future care operators. Once completed, the care home will offer 80 modern care apartments and the private daycare facility will accommodate 89 children.
Northern Horizon, specialized healthcare real estate investor, has signed a deal with Danish developer Scandinavian Property Development to purchase a care home under construction in Hørsholm, Denmark. Once completed in the summer of 2025, the care home is expected to achieve DGNB Gold certification. Attendo A/S will operate the care home.
Northern Horizon, specialized healthcare real estate investor, has acquired a portfolio of 15 healthcare properties for approx. EUR 75 million for its fourth healthcare fund, Aged Care IV. The portfolio was acquired from eQ, the largest private social infrastructure owner and developer in Finland. The portfolio is regarded as one of the highest quality care home portfolios ever sold in Finland.
This year, Northern Horizon’s fourth healthcare fund, Aged Care IV SCSP SICAV-RAIF, participated in the GRESB real estate assessment for the first time. In its debut evaluation, the fund achieved a promising four-star rating.
